Two Lashkar OGWs arrested from Budgam: Police
Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested two overground workers of Lashker-e-Toiba in Budgam district of central Kashmir.
In a statement, police said that that it along with 53 RR during joint naka checking at Railway bridge Mohanpora arrested two persons associated with Lashker-e-Toiba and recovered “incriminating materials” and live ammunition from their possession.
They have been identified as Mohammad Ashraf Shaksaz of Kralnar Kalshipora and Mursaleen Maqbool Bhat of Shamsabad Budgam.
Preliminary investigation revealed that they were providing shelter, logistics and other material support including transportation of arms and ammunition to the militants of LeT in various areas of Budgam, the police said in the statement.
Police said that the duo was in touch with Pak commanders of the outfit, through various social media platforms, as also with local commanders in Kashmir.
“Incriminating material including posters of LeT and live ammunition 30 rounds of AK 47 and 07 rounds of Chinese pistol were recovered from their possession.”
Accordingly, a case FIR number 207/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Budgam and investigation into the matter has been initiated, the police added. (GNS)
