There is no doubt that the second wave of pandemic has receded to great extent and there is very less number of deaths in Jammu and Kashmir.

However, on a daily basis there are covid positive cases being reported by the authorities though the case load is very low. It means that covid-19 is very much around us and it has not disappeared.

District authorities of Srinagar have taken a wise decision not to lift restrictions on the weekends even after the appeals by the traders for the same.

Earlier traders have appealed LG Manoj Sinha to intervene so that people are allowed to come out on the weekend as this weekend is the last before the Eid-ul-Adha.

They were expecting a lot of people in the business establishments and also in the shopping malls on the eve of Eid. Many people are not adhering to the covid appropriate behavior while they are coming out from their homes to do their routine work.

It is the responsibility of common people to wear masks, maintain distance and also show covid appropriate behavior if they want that they should not see tragedies in their homes and next door.

Government should also intervene in the markets of Srinagar and other parts of Jammu and Kashmir and slap fines on the people who are violating the sops set by the government for the containment covid-19 infection.
