Director Agriculture Kashmir conducts extensive tour of Chadoora
SRINAGAR, AUGUST 25: The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal today conducted an extensive tour of high potential vegetable areas of sub division Chadoora of district Budgam to assess the status of standing crops.
During the tour, the Director visited various vegetable clusters and farmers’ fields of various villages of the subdivision.
Speaking on the occasion, Chowdhary impressed upon the farmers to go for more diversification in terms of organic and exotic vegetable cultivation, as it fetches them more income and is more remunerative.
He also exhorted the concerned officers to organize training and awareness programs about the different schemes and flagship programs for the progressive vegetable farmers so that they could practice latest interventions during the cultivation of different crops.
The Director said that the department has already strategized a comprehensive plan for the marketing of organic, exotic vegetables and other agriculture produce in and outside of the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir so that the farmers could earn maximum possible returns for their labour.
Deputy Director Planning Mohammad Younis Chowdhary, Nodal officer marketing & other officers of the department were accompanying the Director.
Later, the Director convened a meeting to review the progress of the National Mission on Saffron and held a threadbare discussion on progress under Micro Irrigation System and Physical & Financial achievements under the National Mission on Saffron.
The meeting was attended by Joint Director Agriculture Extension Shahid Iqbal, Chief Agriculture Officer, Pulwama, Budgam & Srinagar, Nodal officer National Mission on Saffron, Executive Engineer Directorate of Agriculture, Executive Engineer/ Assistant Executive Engineer Mechanical Engineering Department Srinagar.
