DDC Pulwama convenes DLAC meet on Food Safety
PULWAMA, NOVEMBER 25: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Pulwama, Baseer Ul Haq Choudhary today convened a meeting of District Level Advisory Committee (DLAC) on Food Safety at District Administrative Complex, here.
The chair was informed that so far 2479 inspections have been conducted, 93 cases have been filed before the competent courts out of which 45 have been decided and an amount of Rs. 6,035000 has been imposed as fine on violators.
It was further informed that 339 samples have been lifted out of which 03 have been declared unsafe while 38 as substandard and 27 as misbranded.
The DDC also oversaw the registration of food business units, surveillance of food items, monitoring of inspections, sampling, enforcement, prosecution and adjudication related to food safety.
It was also informed that the routine inspection of milk and milk products is done and the below standard samples are destroyed on prima facie condition & quality by the Food Safety Officers.
The DDC held one to one interaction with each member of the Committee and directed the enforcement agencies to adhere to their roles in implementing the Food Safety Act.
While highlighting the importance of conforming to the legal standards by food business units, retailers, bakers etc, he stressed upon officers to coordinate with each other so that the ultimate aim of providing quality and safe food to the citizens at genuine rates is envisaged.
Among others the meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police, Chief Medical Officer (Vice chairman DLC), Assistant Commissioner Food safety, (Secy. DLAC), Food Safety Officer, Pulwama, Food Safety Officer as members of DLAC, General Manager DIC, Chief Agriculture officer, concerned and representatives of private firms.
