Pollution Control Board Shuts Down Brick Kiln in Kashmir

SRINAGAR:  The Jammu and Kashmir Pollution Control Board has taken swift action to address pollution concerns in central Kashmir’s Budgam district by shutting down the Brick Kiln in the Beerwah area of the district.

According to an order, the directive, issued on December 22, 2023, mandated Deputy Commissioner Budgam to immediately cease operations at the kiln. Following this, on January 5, 2024, the Deputy Commissioner issued a communication instructing the closure of the mentioned kiln, it said.

‘’Acting by these instructions and the authority vested in the District Magistrate Budgam, the brick Kiln owned by Abdul Rehman Sofi, known as MIS RBC Brick Kiln Utligam was officially closed on February 15, 2024,’’ the order said.

Any violation of this closure order will face legal consequences, the order added.
