23-Year-Old Imam Found Dead Under Mysterious Circumstances in Srinagar Mosque
A 23-year-old man was found dead under mysterious conditions inside a mosque in Srinagar, Kashmir.
Media reports said that a man from Bijbehara town was found unconscious in Noor Masjid, Shamsaabad, Bemina, Srinagar, during Fajr (pre-dawn) prayers. Locals discovered him lying inside the mosque and rushed him to the hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
“The man had attempted to hang himself in the mosque. The reason behind this extreme step was not immediately known,” officials said.
The deceased’s family said that he had been serving as an Imam in the area for nearly a year and was living in rented accommodation nearby. “We received a call from Srinagar stating that our son had been hospitalised. When we reached Srinagar, we found his body,” his family claimed.
The police have taken cognizance of the incident and started an investigation.
