Top LeT commanders killing “big achievement” for police, security forces: IGP
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar on Monday said the killing of top LeT commander Sajad alias Haidar in Kreeri Baramulla is a “big achievement” for police and other security forces.
According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), two militants were killed in an encounter that broke out between forces and militants in Kreeri village of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday.
The gunfight broke out hours after the forces party was attacked in Kreeri in which two CRPF men and an SPO of J&K Police were killed.
Soon after the attack, joint team of Army, CRPF and SOG of Jammu and Kashmir Police launched manhunt to track down the attackers. While chasing the militants, a joint team of forces established contact with the militants who fired upon them, triggering an encounter.
“During the exchange of fire, two militants were killed and arms & ammunition were recovered from the gunfight site”, police official said.
He said the identification of one slain militant has been ascertained identified as Sajad alias Haider, a top LeT commander while the identity of another slain militant is being investigated.
Meanwhile IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar, termed the killing of Sajad alias Haider a “big achievement” for police and other security forces. He said the slain LeT commander was involved in multiple killings besides threatening political workers.
Kumar lauded the role and synergy of forces while tracking down the most wanted militant in a swift operation. (KNS)
