Gunfight breaks out in north Kashmir forests
Gunfight breaks out between militants and the government forces in Dana Behak, Warnow area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday, reported a local news agency, Global News Service (GNS).
According to the reports reaching GNS, a joint team of the police, the Army’s Rashtriya Rifles 28, and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Dana Behak forests.
As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off a gunfight.
An unnnamed senior police officer confirmed to GNS the exchange of fire between the joint team and the militants. As per the sources, two to three militants are believed to be trapped. (GNS)
