It was really a long tragic wait for the families of three Rajouri youth even to get the bodies back from the authorities in Kashmir as their innocent wards were dubbed as militants and killed in the encounter at Shopian.

Belonging to very poor families these three youth have come to Shopain to work as daily wagers in the apple orchards to make some money as they wanted to continue their education and also help their families financially.

All their dreams died along with them when they were killed in the fake encounter by army and security forces at Shopian. Narrating the tragic night of these youths, one of the mothers told the media that even they were not allowed to have their dinner and were dragged out from the rented room and killed in a staged encounter.

The families are not only waiting for justice but also they are getting no compensation so far from the government as the police is delaying the investigation adding to their miseries.

Army was the first to order probe even before the J&K Police into this encounter and after the investigation told media that they have found “during this encounter at Shopian that powers vested under the AFSPA [Armed Forces Special Powers Act] 1990 were exceeded and the dos and don’ts of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) as approved by the Hon’ble Supreme Court have been contravened”.

According to the media reports from New Delhi quoting defense sources four Army men, including an officer, have been prima facie found guilty and in accordance with army rules further action would be taken against them.
