Roshni in SC
Finally the Roshni scheme has been in the news now because it has reached the Supreme Court. Recently JK government told the apex court that it would continue with the assurance that no coercive action would be taken against those persons who have approached the top court against the high court verdict of scrapping the Roshni Act of 2001.
JK High Court has described the Roshni act as a scam and has asked the investigating agencies to go into the roots of this entire affair and fix the responsibility.
JK administration has informed the apex court that while the review petition against the high court order is pending, there would be no action taken against those who have challenged the order and have argued in the court that it is worth reviewing.
The bench noted the submission that the pending review petition was yet to come up before the high court and granted liberty to petitioners to mention the matter thereafter.
The lawyers who appeared on behalf of the petitioners from Kashmir, who have challenged the scrapping of Roshni act by JK High Court, prayed before the apex court that while the review petition is going on, there should be no coercive action be taken against them as per the statement made by lawyer on behalf of the government.
