High-speed internet is back
After 18 long months of wait, the people of Jammu and Kashmir got pleasant surprise on Friday when a senior officer of the administration tweeted that high-speed internet service will be restored soon.
There was a growing demand of the business community and student community of Kashmir for the restoration of high-speed internet and Private Schools Association of Kashmir has recently moved to Supreme Court again with the plea for the restoration of 4G services.
However, the JK administration is keenly watching the post-restoration of 4G high-speed internet, especially in Kashmir valley. In this direction JK Home Department issued a notification and directed the Inspectors General of Kashmir and Jammu to “closely monitor the impact of the lifting of restrictions”.
There was behind the scenes a lot of effort by LG Manoj Sinha who had earlier indicated to the media in Jammu that 4G services would be restored soon. On his Twitter handle, he thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for “acceding to our request and restoring 4G services in the entire Jammu and Kashmir UT. The move will fulfill the aspirations of the people, especially the youth”.
While the authorities are watching closely the situation unfolding after the lifting curbs on high-speed internet, students of Kashmir are very happy that there are no restrictions now for their studies and exams.
