UT administration committed to channelize energy of youth towards positive direction: Advisor Farooq Khan
JAMMU, FEBRUARY 14: The UT administration is committed to provide best avenues and infrastructure to the sports-loving youth of Jammu and Kashmir to channelize their energy towards positive direction.
This was stated by Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan while addressing the valedictory cum prize distribution function of Shaheed Lt. Thakur Dass Memorial Cricket Tournament organised by Akhnoor Sports Club at Govt. Boys Higher Secondary School, Akhnoor.
At the outset, the Advisor along with President, Secretary and other members of the Sports Club paid tributes to martyr Lt. Thakur Dass at the memorial site.
While speaking on the occasion, the Advisor said that Thakur Dass Sharma was the brave son of the soil who gave the supreme sacrifice for his motherland and got martyred on 12 September 1965.
The Advisor saluted him for his bravery and supreme sacrifice and exhorted upon the youth to follow his footsteps with a pledge to safeguard the honour of the nation.
The Advisor also appealed to the youth to put in hard work in their respective fields and remain away from social evils to achieve desired goals adding that a proactive approach and public participation is vital for a prosperous society and nation.
The Advisor stressed on the need to encourage the youth to take up sports for developing a leadership quality and character building for a prosperous and successful future.
While presenting the awards to the winning and runner-up teams, the Advisor motivated the young generation to participate in sports and other extracurricular activities. He stressed on the need to create bigger platforms for young sportsmen to display their talent and skills besides promoting the local talent at higher level.
The Advisor also appreciated the Club for promotion of sports activities in Akhnoor and other adjoining areas as salutation to the brave son of the soil by providing assistance in promoting various outdoor as well as indoor games.
