Digvijaya Singh on Saturday created a controversy when he said that snatching the statehood and abrogating the article 370 was an extremely sad decision and the Congress party will relook into all such decisions taken by the BJP government.
He came under a barrage of criticism from the BJP leadership as they claimed that Digvijaya Singh was trying to appease Pakistan and was conveying a message of Rahul Gandhi to them that they will help them to grab Kashmir.
According to the Hindustan times while answering a question from a Pakistani journalist Digvijaya Singh said that Congress party will relook into the entire issue of Jammu and Kashmir post abrogation of article 370.
Digvijaya Singh was quoted as saying “Democracy was not there in Kashmir. When they revoked Article 370 then Insaniyat was not there because they had put everyone behind bars. Kashmiriyat is something that is basically the fundamentals of secularism. Because in a Muslim majority state, there was a Hindu Raja and both were together. Kashmiri Pandits were given reservations in Kashmir in government services. So therefore the decision of revoking Article 370 and reducing the statehood of Jammu and Kashmir is an extremely sad decision. And the Congress Party would certainly have to have a relook into this issue.”
Digvijay was answering a question by Shahzeb Jillani, a Pakistan-based journalist currently residing in Germany who said that he was shocked at the changing landscape of politics and Indian society under the Modi regime. He alleged that post revocation of Article 370, the relationship between India and Pakistan have strained. He also added that in the last couple of months the media is speaking up against the Narendra Modi government, reported the media on Saturday.
