LG Murmu has recently directed the authorities to reach out to common people in Jammu and Kashmir as there has been lot of uncertainty and panic due to the growing threat of corona virus.
Apart from helpline and setting up of control rooms even at the district levels, checkpoints and screening points have been set up to trace all such travelers in Jammu and Kashmir who have been frequently going to the infected countries.
Thousands of students from Jammu and Kashmir are already studying in different countries including china and Iran and the threat perception in Kashmir valley has increased in the recent past.
Keeping in view the circumstances on the ground, the administration has started the process to reach out to the common people and inform them about the measures taken for their safety and security. Administration recently told media there is absolutely no cause of panic. All the required protocols and steps are being taken. Doctors, health specialist’s administrative officers of health departments are reaching out to everybody through mass media informing people at large of the various respiratory hygiene, cough and sneeze etiquette, hand hygiene steps that are needed to be taken.
Adequate number of facilities had been raised both in Jammu and Srinagar as well as district level including quarantine and isolation facilities, ICUs with dedicated ventilators have also been set up, the government informed media recently.
Although the reach out proramme is a good step but people need isolation facilities and ICU’s in all the districts in Jammu and Kashmir so that if and when there is any danger of spread of this virus, the lives of the people are saved and there is not administrative delay to put the things on ground.
