PARLIAMENTARY STANDING COMMITTEE
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs is currently on a visit to Jammu and Kashmir and has been holding meetings not only with the administration but also with the locals so as to understand the problems being faced by the forces and also by the civilians on the ground.
Recently they held a meeting with the civil administration and discussed developmental scenario, people’s welfare measures in Jammu and Kashmir.
During their stay they interacted with representatives of Farmers, SHGs beneficiaries, beneficiaries of youth-centric schemes and were trying to get a feel of how the government schemes were reaching to a common man in Jammu and Kashmir.
When they held a meeting with the JK administration they were briefed by the Chief Secretary who gave a detailed presentation highlighting the achievements and the functioning of all the departments of the UT.
The Committee comprising 28 Members of Parliament from Lok Sabha as well as Rajya Sabha is headed by senior Congress leader and Member of the Parliament, Shri Anand Sharma and they are currently on a visit and have been meeting the delegations.
Detailing about the steps taken in the past few years for democratic decentralization, the meeting was informed about the conduct of elections for District Development Councils and Block Development Councils thus strengthening the grass root level democracy in the UT.
