KU students, faculty members hold prayers in absentia for Dr Morsi
Srinagar:The faculty members and students of the University of Kashmir on Tuesday held prayers in absentia for Egypt’s former President Mohammed Morsi. Morsi was ousted by the military in 2013 only after a year-long term in office.
An eyewitness said that scores of the faculty members, scholars, and students assembled outside the Center Masjid of the varsity and offered funeral prayers in absentia for the president and prayed for the departed soul.
Morsi was the top figure in now-banned Islamist movement Muslim Brotherhood. Morsi is said to have died of a heart attack. He was 67 and had been in custody since his removal.
