DC Srinagar flags-off Walkathon under “Eat Right Challenge” at Nehru Park
SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 27: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad Saturday morning flagged-off Walkathon under ‘Eat Right Challenge’, organised by Food Safety and Drug Control, Kashmir in collaboration with Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) under ‘Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav’ here at Nehru Park on the banks of Dal Lake.
The Walkathon was participated by school students and stakeholders to create awareness among the people regarding healthy and better food choices, besides to strengthen the food safety and regulatory environment in the district.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the activity is aimed to propagate the message of adopting healthy food habits among the masses to include fortified foods as nutria- cereals in their diets. He also stressed on massive outreach to educate people and spread the message of safe, healthy and sustainable diets.
Asad stressed on preferring fibrous and nutritious food in diet to remain healthy besides improving public health and combat negative nutritional trends to fight lifestyle diseases. He said it is imperative to create awareness about safe, healthy and sustainable food in Srinagar.
On the occasion, the participants were holding placards regarding the healthy food habits for mass awareness.
Food Drug Administrator, Shakeel-ul Rehman, officers of Food Safety and Drug Control, besides a larger number of students and other stakeholders participated in the event.
