Five gamblers arrested in Srinagar along with stake money: Police
Srinagar:Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested five persons following a credible input about gambling offences in Srinagar.
A police spokesman in a statement said that five youth Identified as Sahil Ah Bhat son of Shabir Ahmad, Parvez Ahmad son of Gh Nabi, Arshid Wagay son of Mohammad Sultan, Irfan Ahmad Sheikh son of Gh Rasool and Azhar Mushtaq son of Mushtaq Ahmad all residents of Habbak Naseembagh Srinagar, arrested for the gambling offences have been taken to Police Station Nigeen where they remain in custody.
“Officers from the local police unit while making the arrests have seized stake money of Rs 10,800 and playing cards were also seized from the site,” said the spokesman.
“A case FIR No 58/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Nigeen and investigations has been initiated,” he said.
“Community members are requested to cooperate with police in curbing social crimes in their neighbourhood. Community members can share information pertaining to social crimes with police. We reassure the community members that our efforts in curbing social crimes shall continue,” said police spokesman in a statement.
