Srinagar: Amid the gusty winds, the Tourism department Kashmir in unison with Kashmir House Boat Association (KHBOA) rescued several stranded tourists from houseboats, scheduled with onward flights and checkouts.
Chairman Kashmir House Boat Association (KHBOA), Manzoor Ahmad Pakthoon, informed that due to the adverse weather conditions, tourists staying in houseboats were not able to move to other side of road, but that the prompt intervention from Director Tourism Kashmir made the transportation of tourists from houseboats possible.
“Director Tourism Raja Yaqoob kept his boat available for the whole day to facilitate the transportation of tourists from houseboats to the other side of the road,” stated Manzoor.
He said that due to the strong gusty winds tourists staying in the houseboats in Srinagar found themselves stranded, and were unable to reach the roadside.
He said that many tourists had onward flights and checkouts scheduled, making the situation critical. “Thanks to the swift action and invaluable support of Raja Yaqoob, the stranded tourists were safely evacuated. Our team, along with the tourism department, rescued and transported all the tourists who had to reach the other side of the road,” he added.
The KHBOA chairman extended gratitude to director tourism Kashmir for his support and commitment to ensuring the safety of tourists.
“This incident underscores the importance of proactive measures and collaborative efforts in times of crisis. I am thankful to both to my team and officials from tourism department who made transportation possible,” said Pakthoon—(KNO)
