Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, V Masoodi, others meet Governor
Srinagar:Secretary School Education Sarita Chouhan met Governor Satya Pal Malik at the Raj Bhavan Srinagar on Wednesday.
Chouhan briefed Governor about various initiatives taken for the strengthening of school education infrastructure in the State with emphasis on adequate staff positioning and strict adherence to the annual academic calendar of the schools.
Governor stressed every possible effort by the School Education Department to provide high-quality education for the holistic development of students.
He also discussed the functioning of the Mid Day Meal Scheme in the schools and directed that strict check be kept on the quality and quantity of the food served to the students.
Vijay Dhar, Member Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board with Governor Satya Pal Malik.
Dhar shared with Governor his views about the strengthening of the infrastructural facilities for the pilgrims en route the Holy Cave of Mata Vaishno Devi.
They also discussed initiatives required for the youth of the State to hone their talents and express themselves through an appropriate platform.
Appreciating the potential existing among the youth of the State, Governor emphasised the need for making available opportunities to them to ensure their all-round development.
K B Agarwal, Ombudsman for Panchayats, with Governor Satya Pal Malik
Agarwal briefed Governor about the functioning of the Panchayats and various issues being dealt with by the Ombudsman in this regard. They also discussed about strengthening of these grass root level democratic institutions for the holistic development of the villages.
Governor emphasised the crucial role of Ombudsman in making Panchayats accountable and function in a fair and transparent manner.
Dr Shehnaz Ganai, former MLC, met Governor Satya Pal Malik at the Raj Bhavan Srinagar.
Dr Ganai apprised Governor about various developmental and other issues relating to Poonch and aspirations of people there.
Governor appreciated the sincere efforts of Dr Ganai in working for the welfare of people.
Vasundhra Pathak Masoodi who has been appointed as Chairperson of the Jammu and Kashmir State Commission for Protection of Women and Child Rights also met Governor Satya Pal Malik at the RajBhavan.
Masoodi shared her views with Governor about the initiatives required for speedy trial of offences against women and children and violation of their rights and for matters connected therewith.
Governor observed that with her vast experience in the field of protection of women and children’s rights, he trusted that Masoodi will ensure providing time-bound justice to the needy. He wished her a successful tenure ahead.
Meanwhile Baseer Ahmed Khan, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, also met Governor Satya Pal Malik at the Raj Bhavan.
Khan briefed Governor about the status of developmental activities and law and order scenario in Kashmir and efforts of the Divisional Administration for smooth conduct of the ongoing Amarnath Yatra.
Governor advised Khan to keep monitoring every aspect related to Yatra under the domain of the Divisional Administration and ensure that Yatris are facilitated in every possible manner during the pilgrimage.
He directed Khan to minimize inconvenience to commuters during traffic regulations on the Highway. He also directed Khan to facilitate Hajj pilgrims from J&K in every possible manner.
