Two Held in Anantnag for Allegedly Threatening Man With False NDPS Case
Police in South kashmir’s Anantnag district have arrested two persons in Anantnag district for allegedly extorting Rs 24,000 from a man by threatening to falsely implicate him in a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Police Station Srigufwara received a complaint from Ajaz Ahmad Shah, son of Mohd Maqbool of Pethi Nambal Mattan, alleging that the accused demanded and took Rs 24,000 from him and threatened to frame him in a false NDPS case if he did not pay.
Police said they verified the allegations and found that the complainant was not involved in any such case. A case was subsequently registered at Police Station Srigufwara under FIR No. 68/2026 under Sections 308(2)(6), 318(4) and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
During the investigation, police identified the two accused as Muzafar Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Mohd Mir, a resident of Veer Nowbugh, Bijbehara, and Jan Mohd Wagay, son of Gh. Rasool, a resident of Pethi Nambal Mattan.
Both were arrested in connection with the case, police said.
