COVID-19: 17 more test positive in J-K, tally rises to 224
Srinagar: Seventeen more people have been tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir; among them five are from Jammu division, while twelve are from Kashmir. The tally of the Union Territory has risen to 224.
The government’s spokesperson, Rohit Kansal, confirmed that seveteen more cases have been detected. “5 are from Jammu division and 12 are from Kashmir,” he said.
In Srinagar, fourteen areas have been declared as red zones where all entry and exit points have been sealed.
Among the positive cases, four have died in J-K while six are said to have recovered from the infection. Until yesterday, there were 46,158 people under observation in J-K; among them 197 were kept in hospital isolation and 415 under hospital quarantine. Whereas 7,726 people were kept in home quarantine.
There are more than 7,500 cases in the country and nearly 250 have died. Meanwhile, the total death toll due to the virus crossed 1,00,000 mark globally.
