Houseboat owner booked for hosting British national in Srinagar
Srinagar: A British national was sent to a quarantine facility while his host in Srinagar was booked by the police after the foreiner was spotted by a police official.
The houseboat owner not only hosted a British citizen but also provided him accommodation since mid-March.
During questioning, the Britisher admitted that he reached Kashmir Valley via Srinagar-Jammu Highway and had managed to skip the Foreigner Registration Offices of both Jammu and Kashmir Tourism and police in Srinagar.
Since mid-March, the country has sealed the borders and halted all national and international flight operations to curb the spread of coronavirus.
The foreigner was immediately taken to the hospital for checkup where his condition was stated to be stable and was directed to remain in quarantine.
Meanwhile, an FIR vide number 45/2020 was registered at Nehru Park police station under sections 269 and 188 of IPC in this regard. (KNT)
