Srinagar, May 02 (KNS): While carrying out sanitation drive in Chanapora area of Srinagar district in wake of pandemic situation, Srinagar Municipal Committee (SMC) officials appealed people to desist from the practice of throwing garbage on roads.
According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), SMC ward Chanapora carried out sanitation drive in several localities of the area. At the occasion several senior officials of the department were present.
Shabir Ahmad, Ward Officer Chanapora said such kind of practice was carried out in past as well but after Covid-19 outbreak across J&K, the department has accelerated its effort for the safeguard of community. He said as per the directions of SMC higher ups, all men and machinery of the department are on toes to fulfill their duties.
He said sanitization exercises will continue till Covid-19 pandemic is not overpowered. However he appealed people to stay away from hurling garbage on roads as it causes mess in already existing fragile atmosphere.
“My first and foremost request to people is to desist from the practice of throwing garbage on roads”, Shabir Ahmad said, and added, “SMC will ensure dustbin vehicles at the doors of public for collection of waste and garbage”.
He urged upon people to maintain social distance and if not followed properly, it will cause huge disaster to our society in future. (KNS)
