Handwara gunfight: Local among two slain militants, say officials
Srinagar: The two militants killed in an encounter with a joint team of army and police in Kupwara district on Sunday have been identified and one of them includes a local resident of Handwara, officials said on Sunday.
A senior police officer told that slain duo includes Asif Reshi son of Mohammad Sultan Reshi of Gund Chabootra Handwada and Hyder alias Iqbal, a resident of Pakistan administrated Kashmir.
He said a case FIR (number 175/2020) under section 307 IPC, 7/25 Arms Act has been registered in connection with the encounter at Chanjimullah which also saw the killing of an army Colonel, a Major, two soldiers, and police Sub-Inspector.
Meanwhile, the bodies of militants were taken to Sheeri in Baramulla district and have been buried in the presence of a magistrate. This follows burial of two militants Sahil Ahmad Bhat of Chakoora and Muzaffar Ahmad Wani of Dowaltpora Chadoora at Sheeri who were killed in an encounter with government forces in Dangerpora Pulwama on Saturday.
