India, Pakistan exchange gunfire along LoC in North Kashmir

Srinagar: The armies of India and Pakistan Sunday afternoon exchanged gunfire at Hajipeer sector in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

The defence spokesperson Colonel Rajesh Kalia told The Kashmir Walla that Pakistan initiated an “unprovoked ceasefire violation along the LoC” in Keran and Rampur sectors, of districts Kupwara and Baramula in North Kashmir.

He added that the army is retaliating befittingly. “Enemy positions targeted with high precision,” he added.

Shahid Ahmad Sarpanch from Nambla village told Kashmir News Observer that areas like Silikote, Hatlanga, Nambla, and Rustom Mohallah were affected due to the ceasefire violation as panic gripped in these villages and people were seen running for cover.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Baramulla, Abdul Qayoom also confirmed that the ceasefire violation in Hajipeer sector took place in the morning. “There was, however, no loss of life or damage to property so far,” he said.
