Locals stage protest over establishment of CRPF bunker in South Kashmir area
Anantnag, June 10: Locals from Sarnal area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district blocked road after Para-military troopers set up new bunker in the area.
Locals demanded immediate removal of the bunker saying it would create uneasiness among locals. They said despite being a bunker has been established despite area being a peaceful one.
Locals told news agency KNT that scores of inhabitants of Sarnal Bala blocked Sarnal road connecting the area with Pehroo area. The locals demanded immediate dismantling of the bunker.
Pertinently, a day before CRPF 165 Battalion established a bunker and check-point in Sarnal area.
After the Lethpora suicide attack a net work of bunkers has come up. More new bunkers came up across Valley after the abrogation of special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
People said that various fortifications have come up at street corners and on the edges of roads in the district. The Central armed police forces carrying a variety of firearms and hi-tech equipment have also set up a large number of makeshift checkpoints and drop gates in addition to the existing ones all over South Kashmir.
