COVID-19: Kashmir records three more deaths, J-K tally 104
Srinagar: Three more COVID-19 positive patients died in Kashmir Valley, officials said on Wednesday. These deaths take the fatality count due to the COVID-19 to 104 in Jammu and Kashmir.
Dr Salim Tak, Medical Superintendent Chest Disease (CD) hospital, one of the exclusive facilities for the management of the covid-19 patients here, told a local news gathering agency Global News Service (GNS) while one of them was a resident of Sopore area of Baramulla district, another belonged to Bijbhera area of Anantnag district.
“Both of them were more than 70 years old and had bilateral pneumonia with other comorbidities,” he said. They were admitted to the hospital on the same day—June 24, he added.
Regarding Bijbhera’s patient, the patient was 72-year-old and belonged to New Colony area of the town. He died last night, they said.
Earlier, a 50-year-old woman from Eidgah area of Srinagar died at SKIMS Soura, twelve days after testing positive for the novel coronavirus.
Dr Farooq Jan, Medical Superintendent Sheri Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura here, told that the woman was admitted on June 19 in Infectious Disease Block “as a case of hypertension, hypothyroidism with community acquired pneumonia with Type 1 respiratory failure.” “She expired at 6 a.m. today,” he said.
With the deaths, 104 people so far have succumbed to the virus in J&K— 92 from the Valley and 12 from Jammu division.
Srinagar district with 25 deaths has the highest fatalities followed by Baramulla (17), Kulgam (13), Shopian (12), Anantnag (8), seven each from Jammu and Budgam, Kupwara (5), Pulwama (four) while one death each has been reported from Bandipora, Poonch, Doda, Udhampur, Rajouri and Kathua. (GNS)
