Srinagar Jammu highway has become a highway of problems and disruptions as in these winter days hundreds of vehicles along with people and essential commodities remained all along the road for days together without any intervention from the government.

Especially during the winter day’s people now avoid to move to Jammu through this road as they have the fears that they can be trapped on the road for days as the authorities have failed to clear the road from such landslides for the past several years.

It is a blame game between NHAI and the local administration and this game has finally reached recently to the court of law. Before the division bench of Jammu and Kashmir high court, the lawyers defending NHAI said that different wings of the administration were not cooperating with them to clear many stretches to clear road widening of national highway.

Court directed chief secretary to bring all officers of different wings including revenue and forests in a single meeting and clear all the bottlenecks of the projects as being pleaded by NHAI in the court for the delay in making Srinagar Jammu highway a wide and all weather roads.

The court further designated the Commissioner/Secretary to Government, Revenue Department, as the nodal officer in the said process, asking him to place the compliance of the court directions by the next date of hearing.

The court further directed the NHAI Chairman to file an updated status report about the details regarding the pending cases before any wing of the High Court as well as the other subordinate courts along with copies of all orders passed thereon from time to time restraining the authority to proceed in the matter.
