Convenes meeting to finalize modalities for procuring digital classroom equipment

SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 27: Secretary, Higher Education Department (HED), Talat Parvez, today said that government is taking various steps to comprehensively improve higher education scenario across Jammu and Kashmir.

The Secretary made these remarks during a meeting he chaired to finalize modalities for procuring equipment for digital transformation of college classrooms.

Director Planning, Higher Education Department, Director IT&SS University of Kashmir, College Principals of Kashmir Division and representative of K-Yan were present in the meeting.

The Secretary that the objective to establish digital classrooms is to shift traditional learning more to self-learning mode, besides imparting education through audio-visual, print material, intranet, internet and different electronic means.

Seeking details regarding the installation of digital classroom equipment in the colleges across Kashmir Division, the Secretary was informed that requisite infrastructure is being installed in various colleges including smart interactive boards with intranet and internet connectivity.

It was given out that the process of installing equipment to develop digital classrooms is in full swing and by 15th March work will be completed in 15 colleges of the Valley.

The Secretary directed the college principals to come up with a report regarding existing IT-enabled classrooms and scope for developing more digital classrooms and lab in the colleges.

He directed the college authorities for procuring four K-Yan equipment to establish digital classrooms in the colleges lacking IT-enabled classroom facilities, besides training faculty for digital content delivery who will be teaching first semester students in the coming session. He also directed conducting training workshops for the Core Committee members about digital classroom content generation and delivery.

Earlier, representatives of K-Yan informed the meeting about valuable solutions to transfer classrooms form traditional to self-learning mode, besides suggesting installation of modern e-learning devices.
