DGP Prisons meets J&K detainees in UP central jail

Srinagar, Mar 16: A top J&K police officer visited a jail in Uttar Pradesh and met detainees from J&K lodged in it.
V K Singh, DGP Prisons, J&K visited Central Jail Naini, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh where 16 detenues from J&K are lodged.
He interacted with them to inquire of their health.
Superintendent Naini Jail H B Singh, Medical Officer and other staff were present during the visit.
As per the official statement from the DGP’s officer, 14 out of the 16 detenues had no health-related issues and two were under treatment for “some minor health issues”.
V K Singh was informed that the detenues are allowed to regularly meet with their relatives and health check-ups are also conducted.
“In case of health issues, the detenues are provided proper medication under supervision of Doctors,” the statement read.
At present 198 detenues from J&K are lodged in six jails of Uttar Pradesh. The DGP Prisons appreciated the efforts of UP jail authorities to enable meeting and for providing proper health care to the detenues in need.
Earlier this year, DGP Prisons, J&K visited Uttar Pradesh Prison Headquarter, Central Jail Varanasi and District Jail Lucknow.
