DC Kupwara launches awareness campaign, issues advisory

KUPWARA, MARCH 17:  Intensifying efforts to ensure mass awareness regarding Coronavirus (COVID19) across the district, Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Anshul Garg today launched an awareness campaign regarding the preventive measures which need to be adopted to avert the infection.

Two vehicles fitted with P A S (Loudspeaker), banners, leaflets were send in different directions of the district to generate awareness about COVID-19.

Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Bashir Ahmad Bhat; Chief Medical Officer, Abdul Gani Dar, District Information Officer, Mohammad Yousuf Mir, District Mass Media Officer, Health & Family Welfare, Ghulam Rasool Bhat and other concerned were present on the occasion.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officials  to make announcements in Urdu and Kashmiri languages at all crowded places including bus, sumo, auto stands, hospital and office premises in  rural and urban areas  so that people across the district could follow the preventive measures laid by Health department to avert the effects of deadly disease.

Meanwhile, on the instructions of Deputy Commissioner an Announcement Booth was established near Main Gate D.C. Office Complex, Kupwara and S.P. Office Complex, Kupwara where people are being advised to refrain from organizing or participating in large gatherings and making crowds or assemblies. They were also informed not to visit markets and offices unnecessarily to keep themselves and society safe from Coronavirus.

Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara issued an advisory asking people to restrict unnecessary visit to markets, hospitals and crowded places in wake of COVID19 outbreak.

The Deputy Commissioner also advised all foreign returned citizens to immediately report their arrival to District Control Room on phone number 01955-253522 or 9419268121 for ensuring proper surveillance as per protocols issued by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.

The Executive Officers of all 3 Municipalities of the district where asked to ensure fumigation and sanitization of all hospitals, vital installations including public offices, bus, Auto, taxi and Sumo stands, places of mass gathering within their jurisdiction.

The advisory also directed Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) to ensure that no mass contact programme including Gram Sabha is conducted in Panchayats till March 31 except in extreme exigencies.
