Union Territory of Ladakh is at the cusp of being positive and prosperous as very soon, authorities are going to declare it as coronavirus free zone. Most of the patients who tested positive for COVID-19 have recovered and have been discharged from Sonam Nurbo Memorial Hospital of Leh.

According to the local authorities of the Ladakh at present there are only 3 positive cases left in the hospitals and they were showing rapid signs of recovery.

This miracle in Ladakh region is the sincere and hard work locals, NGO’s, police and administration. They took the fight against COVID-19 head on and now they are heading towards declaring the Union Territory of Ladakh as COVID-19 free.

Recently hospital authorities of Leh have discharged 13 patients 12 from Leh 1 from Kargil as they now tested negative. The health authorities of Ladakh have adopted aggressive strategy of mass sampling and they have been going door to door in Kargil to get the samples of suspected cases.

Local volunteers and NGO’s have played a key role from the ground zero as they used to go door to door to supervise on daily basis any cases of fever and flu. They also helped the government to trace the suspects and this strategy worked on the ground.

Administration in Ladakh has strictly imposed the restrictions ordered by Union Home Ministry on the movement of passenger traffic in this Union Territory. People of Ladakh and Kargil have also cooperated with the authorities by adhering the norms of lockdown completely.
