District Srinagar especially Lal Chowk and its adjacent areas will remain under severe restrictions till May 3, 2020 according to any order issued by District Administration.

The order has mentioned lockdown period from March 25, while as the fact remains that Srinagar and various other parts of Kashmir valley have been under lockdown from March 19.

As the people were expecting some respite from April 20, but the district administration has decided to keep the people of Srinagar inside their homes. They have said in the order that it has been done in accordance with guidelines by MHA.

While there is no denying of fact that Covid-19 cases have increased in district Srinagar but fact remains that many of the areas are in the green zone and the administration has decided to keep them also under severe lockdown. There is no mention what are measures taken by the district administration Srinagar for those families who have nothing to eat and no money to purchase even ration on their door steps provided by the authorities.

There are thousands of boys and girls in Srinagar city who work in unorganized sectors especially doing some private jobs. They have virtually lost their jobs and have no contact with the job providers as most of them have fired them due to the fact that many of them are running small units or business establishments and have not money to pay their employees.

With such huge under belly in Srinagar city, district administration should address all such problems while extending the lockdown till May 3, 2020.
