School education department post COVID-19 lockdown has been looking for ways and means to provide education to the school going children in their homes.

Though it is good beginning, but at the same time it raised questions why in the past eight months of lockdown no such effort was done by J&K administration to impart education to the children.

Due to the low speed of internet, various methods of providing education in homes could not pick in Jammu and Kashmir. However authorities have decided to tie up with AIR in order to enhance the reach to children in far off villages of Kashmir.

To reach out to maximum students amid the coronavirus lockdown, the School Education Department in Kashmir is starting audio classes from in coming days in collaboration with the All India Radio, the decision was taken in the recent high level meeting.

The educational broadcast will enable students to learn through the medium of radio while sitting in their homes and the motive behind the initiative is to engage the students and to reach out to them while they are confined to their homes due to COVID-19 lockdown.

Authorities have in Jammu and Kashmir decided to go for a lockdown in Srinagar and other parts much before lockdown announced by central government. Education has suffered a lot especially after August 5, last year when the authorities took decisions to stop education button also. It would have been appreciated by the students of Jammu and Kashmir if in the past 9 months of disruptive life they could have got access to virtual classrooms at least remain in touch with their studies.
