No anti-rabies vaccination in Kunzar health centers, people aghast

Srinagar, Apr 30 (KNS): The residents of Kunzar locality in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday expressed strong resentment over the non-availability of anti-rabies vaccine in PHC Kunzar.
Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), residents said that a teenage of Panditpora Payeen area was bitten by a stray dog after which his family rushed him to nearby PHC Kunzar but due to lack of anti-rabies vaccination at the centre, his parents were compelled to move him Magam hospital. Family members said that once we reached PHC Kunzar, we were told by officials that the stock of anti-rabies vaccination has finished in said medical centre.
Family members said that such medical facilities worth useless if it failed to treat patients whenever need arise. They alleged that despite of lockdown restrictions, officials at PHC Kunzar didn’t provide any help to the injured for taking him to Magam hospital.
Meanwhile Block Medical Officer (BMO) stayed away to comment over the lack of anti-rabies vaccination and denial of ambulance to the injured person.
However Tehsildar Kunzar admitted that his office has received several complaints of non-availability of anti-rabies vaccination in several PHCs falling under Kunzar jurisdiction and assured the matter will be taken up with higher officials. (KNS)
