MGNREGA work resumes with SoPs to kick-start rural economy at Shopian

SHOPIAN, MAY 01: Rural Development Department, Shopian has recently resumed works including de-silting of major irrigation canals and khuls.

The labourershave been asked to follow the Covid-19 protocols including maintaining social distance and wearing face masks.

Irrigation and water conservation works, construction of ponds, wells and other related activities, are main focus of the resumed MGNREGA works.

The concerned officers have been directed to undertake the works in the district as per the demand of wage seekers for areas outside the demarcated containment zones.  However, if any new area is included in the category of containment zones, then MGNREGA activities allowed in that area have to be be immediately suspended.

They were also asked to ensure allocation of works in such a way that social distancing could be maintained at the work sites. During the allotment of works, it shall be ensured that the on-going and incomplete works should be completed first.

The farmers expressed their gratitude to the District Administration for resuming MGNREGA works especially de-silting of important irrigation Canals and khuls in view of approaching Horticulture and Agricultural season.
