In the recent past media has reported lot of stories about the poor facilities available in the quarantine centers set up by the government especially for those who are coming back to Jammu and Kashmir. Recently some of the Kashmiris who were travelling back home were stopped at Lakhanpur and were not allowed to proceed to their homes despite having travel passes.

Most of such families have told media that the quarantine facility in Samba has no facilities and they were forced to spend two days in that facility.

People have complained that they had to sleep on mattresses laid on the ground in Samba quarantine center. They have also brought focus on the mismatch in the administrative set up of how to send them home.

Authorities at Lakhanpur stop Kashmiri passengers and tell them to get fresh pass for travel from Divisional Commissioner Jammu. They are also seeking health certificate issued by the government medical officer from the state or the city the person was coming from.

While many families were forced to remain in make shift facilities for days together, they were having no social distancing and no facilities even to sleep.

Recently a woman took to social media, narrating her story of ill treatment at Lakhanpur and Samba. The pictures of stranded Kashmiris sleeping on the floor at Samba quarantine have gone viral on social media.
