UDHAMPUR IN FOCUS
In the recent past the government has started special focus on district Udhampur of Jammu region and have restarted many developmental projects. Keeping the pace, recently Advisor to Lieutenant Governor visited Udhampur to monitor various ongoing developmental works being executed in RDD, PDD and Tourism sectors in the district.
Advisor stressed on maintaining Social Distancing, Hand Hygiene ,Wearing of masks besides effective implementation of all RDD schemes and timely payment to labour.
He also assessed the status of convergence plans taken with various line departments and the progress of works under MGNREGA. BDOs were directed to keep regular check over the progress of works on the ground in order to achieve the targets in a stipulated time frame. Strict directions were passed to BDOs to regularly hold meetings with PRIs. He advised the RDD staff to follow social distancing and use hygienic practices and directed them to aware the rural masses about the spread of COVID-19 pandemic. RDD was asked to construct play grounds in every Panchayat under MGNREGA and increase the number of works.
Government has tried to create more days of labor under MGNREGA and other district schemes and interacted with the farmer’s community and PRIs. Government has stressed to promote organic farming in all the Jeevika clusters in the district to increase their agriculture income. He was informed that under this project 250 ponds are being constructed in convergence with MGNREGA in all panchayats of the district. He appreciated the unique initiative of District Administration for launching Jeevika project in the District.
