JKAP delegation led by Rafi Mir calls on Lt. Governor
A delegation of Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) leaders led by Rafi Ahmad Mir on Thursday called on Lt. Governor Girish Chandra Murmu who later took a review of developmental activities in progress and the pending public demands in Anantnag district.
In a statement issued to KNS , a spokesman of the party said that the delegation submitted a memorandum and highlighted the public demands with the Governor, appraising him about the day to day issues faced by the people of South Kashmir.
JKAP leader and former legislator from Kokernag was part of the delegation and he also projected the public demands pertaining to Kokernag Assembly Constituency.
The delegation raised various demands related to public welfare measures needed to be taken to address the sufferings of the people in entire South Kashmir.
The former legislators apprised the Lt. Governor about the shortage of clean drinking water, erratic power supply, damaged road networks, regularisation of casual labours, the release of their pending wages, healthcare and sports infrastructure problems besides other demands.
Raising the pending demands of people of District Anantnag, Rafi Ahmad Mir briefed the governor about all the mainstay sectors of economy especially tourism which have been shut since last year August.
He said that people associated with Tourism sector directly or indirectly in South Kashmir have been crippled by the continuous shutdown since August last year and their livelihood avenues have been further badly hit by the COVID lockdown.
The delegation demanded special intervention of Lt Governor in this matter and demanded inclusion of the tourism sector in the financial COVID related financial package announced by the central government so that all stakeholders of this vital sector heave a sigh of relief.
“JKAP, from day one of its inception, has been equivocally highlighting the basic demands of the people and expect results oriented measures from the Lt. Governor led administration very soon,” Mir said.
