Sajad Gani Lone was the first politician from Kashmir to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and decided to have an alliance with BJP much before PDP.

He was a critic of both National Conference and PDP and used to call them as political qabal of Kashmir out to deceive their own people and work for the designs of centre.

He was very vocal against Omar Abdullah and used to criticize him for having no political foresight and being on the heads of people only with one qualification that he was son of Farooq Abdullah.

But abrogation of article 370 and his detention for more than a year has changed it all. He now talks for unity and says the Gupkar declaration is the starting point for all of them to remain relevant in Kashmir valley.

In his first interview after remaining under detention Sajad Gani Lone said that mainstream political leaders will have to convince people in Kashmir that they are for them and are not the agents of New Delhi.

“August 5 was a dark day for me, a day, as dark as it can get. I see August 5 as an unconscionable act of betrayal of the Kashmiri people,” Sajad, said in his recent blog.

“Hatred apart, the problem is that the ruling class in Delhi seems to have a rudimentary understanding of Kashmir, the history of Kashmir, the secularist perspective of Kashmir, and the geopolitical footprint of Kashmir,” Sajad wrote further in his blog.

“Over the past seven decades, every exciting generation of leaders passed on a politically poorer J&K to the new generation. We have nothing but fear and tales of betrayal to pass on to the next generation,” indicating his future politics as it would be very close to the politics of separatists.
