Jammu and Kashmir Congress is in a fix of how to proceed in Jammu and Kashmir political turf, due to recent political developments. First many senior Congress leaders tweeted in favor of PAGD and said that article 370 should be restored. It was followed by formal inclusion of JK Congress in PAGD as they said that they would be the front runners for the restoration of article 370. Due to Bihar elections, Rahul Gandhi, his sister and mother maintained stoic silence over the controversy created by Mehbooba Mufti over her remarks on tricolor.

JK Congress could feel the heat. Congress Chief in Jammu and Kashmir Ghulam Ahmad Mir first said that he was not well and could not attend the first meeting of the Gupkar Declaration. Then he said that the decision whether to be the part of PAGD would be taken by the central command of Congress.

Fearing backlash at the centre level, the central leadership of Congress maintained silence over this issue and allowed the spokesman of Congress to condemn the remarks of Mehbooba Mufti. Congress said that they cannot be the part of any such alliance in Jammu. JK Congress sensing that PAGD will boycott the coming DDC and panchayat elections announced the participation in these polls even before the conclusion of PAGD meeting at Jammu.

They did another political somersault, after PAGD decided to participate in the elections and field united candidates. Farooq Abdullah while talking to reporters on Monday said that JK Congress will not contest the election separately as the JK Congress Chief met him at his Jammu residence and assured that they were the part of alliance.
