Despite Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha recently assured all the candidates taking part in the coming local election in Jammu and Kashmir that they will get equal treatment from the government, PAGD has continued to pinpoint how their candidates were not being allowed to meet the people and canvas for the elections while as the BJP candidates were not only getting the security cover to campaign in the villages but their opponents are being kept away from the villages in the name of security.

While dozens of candidates of PAGD have alleged that they were not being allowed to move out from the security enclosures created by the government after the assessment of threat perception to these candidates, but the candidates of JK Apni Party and BJP were being allowed to campaign along with complete security cover.

Most of the candidates confined are from South Kashmir and have been lodged in the security enclosure created by the government in various areas.

Reacting to the confinement of its candidates in the security enclosures Former Chief Minister and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah took to twitter and said, “The election is fast becoming a farce & also exposes the hollow claims of both the centre & state about the improved security situation in J&K”.

Earlier the Union Home Minister had claimed that they have restored peace and tranquility in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir and blamed Congress and PAGD for pushing Jammu and Kashmir toward terror and turmoil.

But DGP of Jammu and Kashmir Dilbagh Singh recently said that there is a threat to the coming DDC election process and has asked police to provide security to the candidates and shift them to safe accommodations.
