Vice President of PAGD Mehbooba Mufti recently visited many villages of Budgam district and interacted with those families who have been complaining about getting eviction notices from the forest department.

While interacting with delegation from many villages Mehbooba expressed sharp concern over what she called repression on the common people.

She said that abrogation of article 370 on August 5, 2019, BJP government at the centre is using all methods of oppression against villagers especially Gujjar and Bakarwal community.

In Budgam while talking to the media Mehbooba has been quoted as saying, “It seems the government itself wants to disturb the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. They want to divert the attention of people from the basic issue of Kashmir, which is there for the past 70 years. They want to inflict so much oppression on people that people forget everything.”

Mehbooba claimed that she met an aged woman, who had been slapped with the notice by the government to vacate the land. She wondered if the native people of Kashmir are evicted from their land, who is going to reside there.

There have been a lot of protests not only by the political leadership of Kashmir but also by the villagers themselves as evictions notices have been received by many villagers.
