After the recent assurances by the government that they will soon lift the curbs from the high speed internet in Jammu and Kashmir, it seems that there are many more meetings to happen before it will translate into reality.

Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha during a recent press conference at Jammu told reporters that he has already formulated a committee to examine how the curbs on the internet could be lifted.

He assured the media that very soon they will hear the good news about the restoration of 4G services in Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier after some organizations and individuals went to the Supreme Court and after the assurances by the government to the court, it was decided that the curbs would be lifted on the communication in a staggered manner.

However after the Supreme Court decision the government on the trial basis restored 4G services in two districts of Jammu and Kashmir. Even after the restoration in the Ganderbal district of Kashmir valley there has been no disturbance in the law and order situation and there are no FIR’s against any person for uploading any objectionable videos.

The government has been arguing in the courts that they are not lifting the curbs on the high speed internet purely because of the ground situation in Jammu and Kashmir as they fear this high speed internet could be used by the anti-national elements to upload videos and other material to disturb peace.
