Principal GMC reviews progress on development works in SMGS, MCH Gandhi Nagar Hospital

JAMMU FEBRUARY 23:  Dr. Shashi Sudhan Sharma, Principal Govt. Medical College and Associated Hospitals, today reviewed the pace of progress on development works in SMGS hospital and Maternal Child Health (MCH) Hospital Gandhi Nagar at SMGS Jammu.

The meeting was informed that the tendering for the installation of ACs for thalassemia ward has been completed and the work shall be completed by the second week of March. It was also decided to repair and renovate the auditorium of SMGSHat the earliest.

To streamline the working, Principal GMC emphasised on the opening of the Microbiology lab, which was damaged in the fire accident. It was also   decide to undertake whitewash, earthing of labs and auditorium and installation of electrical fitting.

The meeting also decided to formulate the  DPR for repair and renovate Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) as the requisite funds are available. It was apprised to the PMC that the installation of the battery bank/ oscillator for the safety of ventilators in Neonatal Intensive Care unit ( NICU) would be completed by March.

The Principal GMC asked to renovate ward number 14 and 15 and asked to give top priority to create facilities for the newborns and said that no delay in this regard shall be tolerated. She directed the concerned XEN to submit the DPR in this matter.

The meeting was informed that the renovation work of ward number 9 and 11, besides stage-2 labour room has been completed and the same will be handed over to the concerned departments within few days.

The Principal GMC & AH stressed on upgrading of the Oxygen generation plant and  said this is an emergency issue which needs to be sorted out immediately. Dr. Manoj Chalotra, Medical Superintendent SMGS and XEN mechanical apprised the meeting that work is in full swing.

 The Principal further called for ramping up the Power infrastructure in the SMGS hospital. She stressed for upgradation of transformers and preparation of DPR for Independent Receiving Station. Installation of ACs, replacement of old wiring with cables was also emphasized.

 It was informed to all the members that the Emergency Triage Assessment and Treatment ( ETAT) is ready but it is not being started  due to low oxygen pressure. The PMC directed the concerned XEN to operationalize it by March.

 Meanwhile, the PMC called for making  the MCH Gandhi Nagar fully functional in the interest of patient care. Later she inspected the different wards and medical facilities.

MS SMGS; XEN civil and mechanical and electrical.
