Former chief minister and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti recently got an interim stay issued by the Enforcement Directorate asking her to present herself before their office at New Delhi.

According to the media reports while the court has given the date for the hearing they have also given a direction to the Enforcement Directorate not to press for her personal appearance in the meanwhile.

Mehbooba Mufti had challenged the validity of the summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate for appearing before it on March 15 without specifying the case for which she was being investigated. She asked the court to quash the summons, so that she is not pressed to present herself in the Delhi office of Enforcement Directorate.

The summons were issued under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act but the case under which she was asked to appear was missing from the notice, issued to her for coming to the office of Enforcement Directorate.

Mehbooba Mufti, has been very critical of the central government especially post August 5, 2019, and has alleged that the summons by the Enforcement Directorate was the result of an act of harassment continuing against her from the central government.
