Tourism industry is showing signs of recovery as there has been a lot of tourist rush in the past few weeks especially to snow bound Gulmarg. But in order to sustain this current season of tourism even the government is trying its best to get back the tourists and have conducted in the recent past a lot of road shows and promotional activities to make the current season successful.

But in the past few weeks there has been an increase in the gunfights, with IGP Kashmir Range Vijay Kumar saying that they have spotted chief of banned outfit in Srinagar city, is dampening the spirits of houseboat owners and hoteliers in Kashmir, who are waiting figures crossed to see that the current season becomes a success.

J&K travel agents along with the government have been busy right from the month of February 2021, to get tourists back to Kashmir valley, as there was a sudden increase of tourists to Kashmir especially to Gulmarg right from the month of November 2020.

The second wave of covid-19 is also showing its impact on the footfall of tourists to Kashmir valley as many cities especially in Maharashtra are facing the fresh spike of infection. Though the government is hopeful of a good tourist season in the current year, the ground situation in Kashmir valley coupled with increase in covid-19 cases bringing fears back among the stakeholder of the tourism industry.
