The National Conference in the recent past has been very vocal against the policies of the central government viz a viz Jammu and Kashmir. The recent DDC elections have proved that the National Conference has footprints in Jammu and Kashmir and emerged as a powerful political force.

Recently the National Conference alleged that the central government has been instructing the JK administration to push a new undemocratic model down the throats of the people of Jammu and Kashmir superseding their wishes and aspirations.

There is no doubt that most of the bureaucrats who are serving in Jammu and Kashmir are from outside and have no knowledge about the ground realities prevailing here.

But the National Conference has alleged that the present bureaucratic set up was “unrelated bureaucracy” which is least bothered about issues of people living in Jammu and Kashmir.

“The new model in place in Jammu and Kashmir is bereft of democratic moorings with no say of Muslims, especially Kashmiri Muslims in the decision-making process,” the party women’s wing chief Shameema Firdous was quoted in the media while talking to their  District Development Council (DDC) members.
