The government is very serious for the conservation of Dal Lake and in this connection recently Divisional Commissioner Kashmir chaired a meeting of officers to review the preservation of the Lake.

In the meetings according to the media reports appearing in the newspapers, the government has decided to go for a sustained drive to remove all illegal encroachments including all illegal barbeque stalls from Boulevard and Foreshore road alongside the Dal Lake.

The Divisional Commissioner directed a joint team of concerned departments to carry out a sustained drive against these illegal stalls causing traffic jams and other nuisance alongside Dal banks.

Such steps have been taken as in the recent past there were frequent traffic jams on the Boulevard road and the most of the people used to get stuck for hours on this road especially when the government opened Tulip Garden for locals and tourists.

After frequent traffic jams the government has felt the need of parking places and also have decided to remove all the illegal vendors on the rim of the lake as people go to them in their vehicles and remain on the road for hours.
